HAPPY NEW YEAR!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

2020 is already unfolding.  Though not much has changed from 2019 within these first few hours, this year holds so much promise.  Our dormant time of the year has been much more active than in years past.  Between growing our winter shoots and microgreens business to Rich's sourdough delivery to our new ovine friends taking up residence in the pasture, we have been keeping busy.  And with any down time we find, I'm 'babying' myself, or rather the baby, who is due in less than 5 weeks!

What does our year look like?
January will see lots of fix-it projects, seed purchasing, tidying up the barn, scheming, and paperwork.
February will have us welcoming baby Wickham #2 to the scene.  Our ewes (female sheep) will be sexually mature and ready to breed.
March will see the beginning of starting our field vegetables from seed.
April will be heavy in field work, preparing beds and getting the first direct seedings in.  We will also be hoping to get our hoop house up.
May will be the beginning of our market season (this year we have committed to This Old Farmers Market in Beavercreek and Oakwood Farmers Market) and chocked full of our first big harvests.
June will welcome the start of summer and the boom of our greens.
July is the start of nonstop harvesting, moving the sheep constantly around the pasture and overfilling the market booth...the time of abundance has begun.  We could see the first lambs born on Foxhole Farm :).
August is much like July...trying to harvest the overflowing beds of produce...plus irrigating like wild.
September will be a time for both summer and fall produce to thrive.  We may attend a few fall events outside of our standard markets.  Stay tuned!
October we will pull in all we can before the freeze sets in.  Hopefully we will be seeding in the new hoop house for winter harvests by now!
November could see more field harvests if the 2020/2021 winter is taking its time to get here.  Outdoor markets will be over, but we will still be delivering to DLM!
December is for family time and keeping up with our weekly shoots and microgreens deliveries to DLM and local restaurants.

"The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry".  And so we will plow ahead with our ideas, knowing full well that our plans will evolve and adapt to the ideas of the powers that be.

We are so excited to go into the New Year with new collaborators and partners, as well as those who we have worked with since the start:
