Sayonara 2020

2020 CHANGED THE GAME

That it did.  On a personal level and a collective level.  January Jack lit up our sleepiest month of the year.  We reflect periodically on how pleased we are that he was born before the world changed.  We got to focus on his arrival without the stress of contagion, social distancing, etc.  Family didn’t have to hesitate to come shower him with love and his Grandmother from New York could travel freely to welcome him to the world.

Covid truly reigned this year…changing the way we all exist together.  We did our best to be scrappy, reacting to the changing tides.  It pushed us to offer more ways to access ours goods…introducing online ordering and produce pick ups outside of the farmers market season.  It solidified and strengthened our sanitation practices.  And it reminded us of another benefit of the farmers market setting…the outdoor, sunlit, and spacious safer shopping experience.

We only hope that next year the world is in a place where we are safe to exist without masks and without fear of each other and giving or getting sick.  All things run their course…Covid needs to do the same.  Perhaps its course will be run ragged by summertime 2021.  We can only hope!

In the meantime, my belief in knowing your farmer and those that feed you (grocers, restaurants, etc) was reinforced.  When food is handed directly from farm to consumer, the supply chain is short and strong.  As long as you trust us, you can trust that we have done our diligence to bring you pure, unadulterated food to feed you and yours.  Shopping with small, local businesses, there is some accountability there.  You know who is serving you and we know who we are taking care of.

I hope that those of you who shopped with us enjoyed your experience this year.  We really do love what we do.  We can’t wait to put our ideas to work next year.  It’s going to be a good year.  I shouldn’t get ahead of myself…we still have this last bit of 2020 to find some joy in…perhaps the first snowfall, steaming mugs in the morning and evening, and old tunes that bring warm memories flooding in.

2021 CSA SIGN UP

We’ve decided to open our csa sign up in time for the holidays this year. If you aren’t familiar with our csa membership, head to our website to learn all about it.

We plan to offer online ordering again in 2021 with pick ups before and after farmers market season.  We are also committed to both the Oakwood Farmers Market on Saturday’s and This Old Farmers Market (Beavercreek) on Sunday’s.

We are going to be growing a similar menu this year…all sorts of vegetables (salad mix, shoots and micros nearly year round).  In fact, we should have a more fruitful spring and summer (mother nature permitting) as we won’t be welcoming another infant to the world next year (?) ;).  Sourdough bread, scratch granola, floral jellies, potted herbs, plant starts for your garden…these are all in the forecast.  Danish and other baked goodies are highly likely during the slower times.  And there are other plans in the works for new items from the farm…just to tease you.
